EMILY SPENCE/KNOXVILLE NEWS SENTINEL – Monday, September 8, 2008 – Tanner Ridenour, 17, of Knoxville, was struck by a deer around 10:45 p.m. Sunday night when pulling into his own driveway on Houser Road. The deer ran into his car, cracked his windshield and ran away. Ridenour’s father, Steve, says the deer population is growing in the area. “They’re not afraid of us anymore,” he said. The Ridenour family lost their son, Will Ridenour, a year ago when his car hit a tree near their home, probably steering away from a deer in the road, police said.
